College Football Game of the Week: Hope College vs. Olivet College (MIAA Division III)

Spread the love

This Saturday we will have a clash of two titans when the Hope College Flying Dutchmen (5-1, 3-0 Conference Record) head down to Olivet, MI to face the Comets (6-0, 3-0 Conference Record).

So far, both teams are unbeaten in conference play at 3-0. The winner of this game will have the inside track at winning the conference title and earn the MIAA’s automatic bid to the NCAA Division III playoffs.

Hope has been an offensive juggernaut this season, their 52.8 points per game is second highest in college football. This isn’t just D-III, it is all teams across all divisions.

The Dutchmen are coming off a road trip to the upper peninsula of Michigan after a 79-12 beatdown at Finlandia University. Believe it or not, that is not the highest point total for Hope; they put up 80 in a win against Defiance (OH) in September.

Olivet has yet to lose this season and is boasting a strong defense that is holding opponents to less than 250 yards per game on average.

This one could go down to the wire, but my final prediction is Hope 36-Olivet 24, with Hope pulling away late.
