Colby Covington went on Submission radio today, and he had some pretty strong thoughts on who his next opponent should be. He wants to fight Jorge Masvidal for the BMF title, and in classic Colby fashion, he didn’t hold back when asking about it.

Personally, I’m all for this fight. Both guys are coming off losses to Usman, but they’re too big of names to be thrown onto some ESPN show at the apex. If they fight each other, some sort of belt gets to be on the line, and they’d definitely be able to headline a pay-per-view. This is a way bigger fight than if Jorge were to fight Leon Edwards, or if Colby were to fight the fourth or fifth-ranked guy in the division.

Plus, the storylines and build-up to this fight would be absolutely insane. Former best friends/training partners turned bitter enemies fighting for the BMF championship of the world! Does it get any better than that?

Besides their support of Donald Trump, these guys are really polar opposites in basically every way. In their persona’s, Colby is basically all schtick, I love the schtick, but it’s a character. On the other hand, Jorge Masvidal is probably the least characterized fighter I’ve ever seen. There’s no gimmick associated with the man. This would make for some all-time press conferences.

And in the cage, their complete opposites as well. This is the definition of a striker vs grappler contest. Last time Jorge got matched up with a pure wrestler, he flying kneed the guy inside 5 seconds, but I could definitely envision a world in which Colby takes him down 100 times, too.

All I know is that this fight HAS to happen. If they put it on ESPN, great. But, if they put it on PPV and priced it at $5,000, I’d still be watching. Colby Covington vs Jorge Masvidal for the BMF title of the world. Inject that into my veins.

Also, I’d put the odds at -5000000 that Donald Trump shows up for this fight.
