When Aaron Rodgers made his way back to Green Bay one of the things on his laundry list of things he wanted was wide receiver Randall Cobb back in green and yellow. Cobb was one of Rodgers’ favorite targets during his eight year tenure in Green Bay, Cobb has had great moments for the Packers like game winners over the Bears and a Hail Mary catch against the Giants. Not only was Cobb one of his favorite teammates but favorite people period as the two are really close friends. Randall Cobb last played for the Packers in 2018 in an injury riddled season that would eventually lead to his departure that off season where he would land in Dallas. In Dallas he posted 828 yards, 3 TDS, on 55 receptions. After one season in Dallas, Cobb would continue his Texas tour as Houston would be his home for the 2020 season. A season that would end with him on IR after suffering turf toe in a week 11 game against the Patriots. The Texans just got a new man in the slot in former Bears wideout Anthony Miller which sets Cobb up for the long awaited return home. The question is what would Cobb bring to the Packers in 2021?

Outside of Green Bay and Packers nation, nobody really knows about the receiving group around Aaron Rodgers. We all know who the man is in Adams but what about the rest? Allen Lazard, MVS, and rookie Amari Rodgers are all looking to make an impact as well. Notice I didn’t list Devin Funchess who opted out last season, I think he may be in danger of losing his roster spot now that Cobb is back. It’s funny because Amari Rodgers drew so many Cobb comparisons now he gets tom work with him. I think the real Randall Cobb can be a good mentor for Amari, bring depth to the team, and make plays. This is a good start on mending the fractured relationship that the Packers brass has with Aaron Rodgers, one of the things that I hope keeps him in Green Bay for longer than this season.
