Former longtime Detroit Lions linebacker and football analyst Chris Spielman is coming back home—this time as an executive.
Just announced on Tuesday, it is announced that Spielman is leaving his position as color commentator for Fox Sports and will be joining the Lions in the position of Special Assistant to the Chairman, President and CEO.
Along with hiring of Spielman, Hall of Fame running back Barry Sanders was also notably hired by the Lions as an advisor for the team to search for their next GM and head coach.
This should be a good football move as they look to turn their culture and misfortunes around after years of losing. It was needed after the failed tenure under former GM Bob Quinn and head coach Matt Patricia.
We will see how this hire goes for the Lions, this could wind up being a good one.
