In the final game of their nine-day five game road trip, the Boston Celtics end with a loss in Rip City against the Portland Trailblazers with a score of 100-94. I don’t think the Celtics improved all that well during this trip tbh, but what they can do now is watch all this film and learn and hopefully make major adjustments!
It was good to have Kyrie Irving back (rumored to be visiting his ailing grandmother) scoring 21 points, but only three, three pointers and having the most turnovers of the starters with three as well. I think that turnovers are the main problem with this Celtics team, the passing just needs a few more seconds to find their receivers and I think that would make their plays a lot smoother.
One more thing to add is that of the Celtics percentages tonight: accuracy! Yes, the free throws were at 80% and that’s fine, no need to work on those, but the field goals and three pointers were just horrendous tonight being at 38% and 33% respectively. Baskets get points and points get wins, it’s that simple.
Being 1-4 on the road has got to be a bad look for Head Coach Brad Stevens and lemme tell ya, I do not wanna be on that plane ride home 😬 Now with the next game against the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday at home back at the Garden I think that the home atmosphere will be beneficial for the team as a whole.
