Can Jose Make History Tonight?

As the dust settles from round one of the Professional Bull (PBR) Unleash The Beast regular-season event, the top 36 bull riders in the world will look to do as Steven Tyler sings in the CBS openings “hold on and won’t let go”.

Jose Vitor Leme mashed the gas and extended his lead over world No. 2 ranked bull rider Jess Lockwood by 100 crucial world points.

The Brazilian semi-pro soccer stand-out is paired it with Justify (3-1) for round two tonight and needs to remain focused on his own out again tonight and not worry about the other world title contenders. He does have momentum from his round one victory last night aboard Red Bandana as seen in this ride here.

Given that Jose is on the cusp of making history for most round wins in a season, this will be an interesting matchup to watch unfold to see if Jose can get one step closer to writing his name in the history books one more time.

Jess Lockwood, world No. 2 ranked bull-rider and 2018 World Champion, is hoping Roadkill (0-0) is the dance partner he needs to counter-punch Jose’s round one victory and find his way into the championship round. Lockwood, a Montana state wrestling star, was shut out in round one and is looking to make-up ground tonight and not get left in the dust by Jose.

Chase Outlaw, world No. 3 ranked bull-rider who was able to split second in round one last night with 2018 World Finals event winner Marco Eguchi with an 88 point-ride aboard Red Snapper (12-1), after being rewarded a reride as Coal Train (3-0) had a poor out last night. Chase is coming into round two looking to notch another ride on The Tickler (2-1) to have a solid pick in the championship round.

This will be an interesting round to see how the World Title contenders – Jess Lockwood and Joao Ricardo Viera who did not post a ride last night – respond tonight.

The Rookie of the Year race will also be interesting to watch tonight as Dalton Kasel was able to increase his lead of 21.25 points to 41.25 points last night due to his impressive ride aboard Ambush (0-1) for 86.25 placing fifth in the round to and earning 30 world points. Round two Kasel is paired up with Saint Joe (6-0). Kasel will be looking to mash his foot on the gas pedal and build upon his lead but does not have an easy out this round.

Mason Taylor is another Rookie of the Year contender to watch out for in the race. Taylor was able to post a ride aboard Raging Crazy (0-1) Taylor was able to notch an 86 point-ride placing seventh in the round and earning 5 crucial world points. Round two Taylor who has lost weight thanks to a training regiment and is focused on having fun riding bulls again is paired up with Suspicious Minds (0-1). The way Mason is currently riding going 3-for-3 in Greensboro last weekend this matchup should lead Taylor to the championship round.

The fans inside the Ford Idaho Center may witness history tonight with Jose – if Jose can win both round two and the championship round – along with an action-packed round two and championship round tonight. The bulls dominated last night by only yielding eleven rides, leaving the door open for other riders to find a way to the championship round with one high-point ride.
