Buccaneers Ink New Deal With Quarterback; Texans Moving On From Deshaun Watson?

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have inked a new deal at the quarterback position. During the 2021 NFL draft, Tampa Bay’s head coach Bruce Arians said that he hoped that the organization would soon complete a deal with last years backup quarterback, Blaine Gabbert.

It was announced last week that Gabbert did in fact resign with the Bucs to a one year deal worth $2.5 million.

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Houston Texans appear to be ready to move on from Deshaun Watson at the quarterback position.

“Teams I’ve talked to around the league are taking notice that the Houston Texans seem to be slowly moving on from Deshaun Watson because they have their bridge quarterback in Tyrod Taylor and they have their developmental draft pick in Davis Mills, a quarterback I’m told they are very high on with his instincts, his smarts and his big arm,” ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler noted recently

There have also been other reports that have indicated that Watson will likely be suspended by the NFL. Regardless of how his legal situation plays out, it appears the NFL is trying to get ahead of it. The last thing they need is anymore negative press on their players. The league reserves the right to suspend a player without charges having been filed in criminal court or a guilty verdict.
