Bryse Wilson Tabbed to Start Game Four

Following a Game Two 8-7 victory that ended up being too close for comfort last night, the Braves will call upon Kyle Wright against the Dodgers and Julio Urias tonight.

They still didn’t have anybody ready for tomorrow in a potential clincher until now. It will be Bryse Wilson, a prospect who has been up and down over the past couple of years between the Major League’s and Gwinnett. Drafted in the fourth round in 2016, Wilson has seen time with the Major League club in each of the last three seasons. He was once a consensus top 100 prospect in baseball, showing a lot of poise and potential.

Things haven’t gone quite to plan. Over the three years, he has only completed more than five innings of work once. He has posted a 5.27 BB per 9 IP rate. In just under 43 total innings of work, he has a 5.91 ERA.

The Braves cannot rely on him to go deep into the ballgame, thus will have to rely on a bullpen that just gave up six runs last night, will likely pitch a lot more tonight in relief of Wright and has no off day. He will be opposed by former NL Triple Crown Clayton Kershaw, the most celebrated pitcher of this generation. Could this be the defining game where Wilson finally puts it all together?
