Bryce Harper Named May's N.L. Player Of The Month

Philadelphia Phillies first baseman Bryce Harper has been named the National League Player of the Month for May.

Harper is the second Phillies player to be named N.L. Player of the Month this season, as Ranger Suarez was the Pitcher of the Month for March and April.

For the month of May, Harper hit .313 with five doubles, seven home runs, 24 RBIs, 16 walks, 19 runs scored and 30 hits in 26 games.

The 31 year-old Harper has been a player in Phillies N.L. best 41-19 record. The Phillies won 20 games in the month of May.

Harper is a two-time NL MVP and with his stellar performance in May, he has but himself in the N.L.’s MVP race.

For the season, Harper has 14 home runs, 44 RBIs and 35 runs scored in 55 games this season. He has also played at Gold Glove level in his first season as an everyday first baseman.

The Phillies host the Milwaukee Brewers tonight at 6:40 pm. They welcome back former teammate Rhys Hoskins.

The Phillies placed outfielder Brandon Marsh on the 10-day IL with a right hamstring strain.
