As reported by Mike Kils of 9 News Denver, the Broncos have ended the stand off between them and pro bowl corner Chris Harris Jr. Harris wanted a new long term deal which he deserved according to many in Broncos Country. While this is just a one year deal he’s getting a four million dollar pay bump from what he was suppose to make.
The No Fly Zone is dead in Denver, that was the name of the terrific secondary that helped the Broncos win Super Bowl 50. It was made up of Harris and fellow secondary members Aqib Talib, Tj Ward, and Darian Stewart. The other three members have moved on from Denver by way of getting cut or traded and Harris as remained as the lone standered bearer of the No Fly Zone.
I’m happy as a clam as a Broncos’ fan, Harris as always played the game the right way and deserved this pay bump. He has consistently been one of the top corners in the game according to Pro Football Focus, despite not being as well known around the league. Now obviously I hope his Bronco career last longer then just this one year deal, but at the very least it’s a start and gets him to comeback for the team’s last mandatory mini camp next week before training camp starts in July.
Now as I touched on earlier, the No Fly Zone is dead but this years iteration of the secondary might be the closest we have seen since. With Harris in the fold plus free agent additions Kareem Jackson and Bryce Callahan not to mention promising young players Justin Simmons and Will Parks. With Bradley Chubb and Von Miller applying pressure off the edge and these guys covering down field the broncos have a great chance at causing many turnovers during the 2019 season!
