Overnight in Las Vegas last night, there were two separate shooting incidents involving the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD).

One incident that multiple news sources have reported on is that one LVMPD police officer is currently on life support after being shot at the Circus Circus Hotel and Casino.

Blue Lives Matter website says that the officer was in a fight with a suspect at the resort’s grounds, when another suspect walked up to him and shot him in the head from behind, at around 2 a.m. Pacific Standard Time (PST).

Protesters were reported to be throwing rocks and bottles towards the police at the resort as well. Some of the protesters, including the shooter, were taken into custody.

“This is a sad night for our LVMPD family and a tragic night for our community,” Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo said.

KLAS 8 News Las Vegas has also reported of another separate incident in which the LVMPD were over at the city’s federal building, which left a man dead at a nearby hospital shortly after midnight PST.

“At approximately 11:22 p.m., officers encountered a subject who was armed with multiple firearms and appeared to be wearing body armor,” Lombardo said via KLAS 8 News Las Vegas. “During the interaction the subject reached for a firearm and the officers engaged him The suspect was struck by gunfire and transported to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased.”

As a result of these protests and shootings, Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak posted a statement down below in response to them.
