Today in the final month of the bizzare year that was 2020, there is an apparent climber going on one of the towers at the Mackinac Bridge in Michigan.

The Mackinac Bridge Authority (MBA), in conjunction with Michigan Department of Transportation and the Michigan State Police (MSP) issued a press release stating that there is an investigation going on regarding the climber Wednesday.

The investigation was started after the climber posted photos on social media last month.

“This person risked his own life and put people crossing the bridge in danger,” MBA executive secretary Kim Nowack said. “If a rescue had been needed, the lives of emergency personnel and bridge staff would have been also been at risk.”

Reporter Mark Cavitt said in a tweet that the climber is a veteran who ‘explores and climbs on stuff to fight his PTSD.’

The MSP said the climber could be charged with felony trespassing at a key transportation facility, and the punishment could be reached up to four years in prison, a $2,500 fine or both.

The climber’s identity is currently unknown.
