The search for Brian Laundrie continues Monday morning after a week of searching for the “person of interest” in the Gabby Petitio homicide case. Laundrie is assumed to still be in southwest Florida, and according to new reports, authorities plan for their search to be more “targeted” according to a North Port Police spokesman, Josh Taylor.

“I don’t think you’re going to see those large scale types of efforts this week,” Josh Taylor, a spokesman for the North Port Police Department, told Fox News on Sunday night. “The FBI is now leading the search. I’m told, It will be scaled back and targeted based on intelligence. Hopefully, water will lower in areas hard to currently access.”

If Laundrie is actually hiding out in the 24,000 acre Carlton Reserve in southwest Florida, surviving for a long period of time would not be an easy thing to do. According to Florida cattle rancher Alan McEwen, if Laundrie is still out there, it is going to be difficult for him to survive.

“there’s no surviving” in the reserve, which is home to alligators, panthers, black bears, wild boar, and poisonous snakes. “I have learned a lot in my life, and one thing I know is no one is gonna survive out there for two weeks on foot,” he told Fox News’ Paul Best.

In other news related to the case, according to the Laundrie’s family lawyer, police have asked for items of Brian’s that may in fact have his DNA on it. Here is what the family’s attorney had to say on the matter.

“The FBI requested some personal items belonging to Brian Laundrie to assist them with DNA matching and Brian’s parents provided the FBI with what they could,” the Laundries’ lawyer, Steven Bertolino said to multiple news outlets

Early last week, video footage surfaced of the FBI entering Laundrie’s family home. His parents were removed from the home and authorities searched the property. The FBI returned to the home yesterday and can be seen in the video posted below. One of the agents was carrying a bag, presumably with items of Laundrie’s that could hold items with his DNA on it.
