Just a day removed after a controversial article on him by the Detroit Free Press, it is reported the Detroit Lions are expected to hire Saints assistant head coach and tight ends coach Dan Campbell as their new head coach.

In a tweet by Dov Kleiman, Campbell joins the Lions after serving the last five season on the Saints staff under head coach Sean Payton.

Campbell has had prior experience at head coach as he served as the interim head coach for Miami Dolphins in 2015 after the firing of Joe Philbin. His record was 5-7.

He also has played as a tight end for 10 seasons for the Saints, Lions, New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys. He was listed as one of the members of the 2008 Lions that went 0-16.

He is expected to join the team after the Saints exit the 2020 playoffs.
