I’m some very sad news, it was announced earlier today by Norm MacDonald’s management firm, Brillstein Entertainment, that MacDonald had passed away this morning at the age of 61.

MacDonald’s longtime partner Lori Jo Hoekstra was with him at the time of his passing earlier this morning.

MacDonald made a name for himself as a standout on Saturday Night Live during the mid 90’s. He was famously remembered for his “Weekend Update” anchor but where he aggressively targeted O.J. Simpson while he was being tried for murder.

“He was most proud of his comedy,” Hoekstra said. “He never wanted the diagnosis to affect the way the audience or any of his loved ones saw him. Norm was a pure comic. He once wrote that ‘a joke should catch someone by surprise, it should never pander.’ He certainly never pandered. Norm will be missed terribly.”
