Hal Steinbrenner really wanted to keep Aaron Boone as his manager of the New York Yankees.

Before Boone could entertain other offers, the Yankees acted quickly, as on Tuesday, the Yankees have kept Boone on a three-year deal.

Joel Sherman of the New York Post mentioned that there is an option year as well for Boone’s deal.

Boone is coming off his fourth straight season where the Yankees were a playoff team, as they went 92-70 and made the American League Wild Card game, but lost to the Boston Red Sox.

Boone is 328-218 as the Yankees manager in the regular season. He’s 11-11 in the postseason. The Yankees got to the ALCS in 2019 and should have made the World Series, but lost to a questionable Houston Astros team in six games.

The Yankees are clearly committed to Boone for the present and feel like they can win a championship with him. Now it us up to Brian Cashman to add the necessary pieces needed to push the Yankees over the top and past the Red Sox, Astros and Tampa Bay Rays.

The San Diego Padres reportedly had interest in Boone for their manager vacancy, but the Yankees were never going to let Boone go to San Diego and have decided to keep him for at least three more years.
