The Braves brought back outfielder Marcell Ozuna on a four year contract worth $65M this past offseason following a campaign where the two-time All-Star led the league in homeruns with a .338/.431/.636 slashline in a pandemic-shortened season. The former Marlin and Cardinal outfielder hasn’t had the best start to his deal, slashing .213/.288/.356 in 48 games until an injury has sidelined him for the foreseeable future.

For Ozuna, things have gone from bad to much worse. It’s apparent, and right now there’s no official confirmation, that Marcell Ozuna has been arrested outside of his Fulton County home. A search of Fulton County’s public jail record has led me to an arrest from earlier today for a Marcell Idelfonso Ozuna, charged on aggravated assault strangulation charge as well as a misdemeanor battery charge.

The league, nor the Braves who are currently in NY playing the Mets, have released a statement and the details around the story are currently only being speculated. One thing worth noting is that this isn’t the first domestic violence situation involving the couple. In June of last year, Ozuna’s wife was booked on similar charges in a domestic dispute when she threw a soap dish at him and lacerated his face.
