Yes, it will be a long road back. Yes, it is now a full rebuild and it will take some time. However, upon this video of Detroit Lions general manager Brad Holmes taking Oregon offensive tackle Penei Sewell in the NFL Draft would make you want to be pumped for them.
In the videos you’re going to see here, excitement was reeking through all the draft last night, but was captured when Holmes, team principal owner Shiela Ford Hemp and rookie head coach Dan Campbell made the call to Sewell.
Per Pro Football Focus, Sewell is the highest-graded offensive tackle to be drafted since 2014, and he was given an ‘A’ grade from most outlets regarding the pick.
Fans will say it is like they have won the Super Bowl, but hey, it is a start of a full rebuild. It appears they’re off to a good start on that end. Not bad Detroit, not bad at all.
