The Toronto Blue Jays’ current temporary home at Buffalo, New York’s Sahlen Field could be over soon. CBS affiliate WIVB-TV in Buffalo is reporting that:

The Toronto Blue Jays have received municipal and provincial approval to return home, and are seeking approval from the Canadian government, a source confirmed to News 4.

The source says club officials have submitted an application to federal officials north of the border, something that was described as the final hurdle for the Jays to clear before returning to Toronto. The new developments were first reported by Sportsnet and The Athletic.

It’s been a fun time for Buffalo baseball fans as they’ve had a chance to watch Major League Baseball without taking a trip out of town. Buffalonians are known for supporting any and all sports ranging from minor league teams like the Buffalo Bandits lacrosse team and the Buffalo Bisons (a Triple-A baseball team) to the NFL’s Buffalo Bills (rumor has it the fans are even willing to support that supposedly major league hockey club the Buffalo Sabres that plays like an age 80+ league). Local bars and restaurants that took a hit during the Coronapocalypse got some much-needed extra ca$h and it’s been an all-around fun time for “The City of Good Neighbors.”

Whether or not the Blue Jays return to Toronto, local fans will remember this special moment in local history. I’m sure that I’m not alone in thanking Toronto for their stay here or in saying “Thanks for the memories.”
