LeGm and the Lakers front office started August off with a bang in free agency. Starting off with the Russel Westbrook trade that sent shockwaves through the league. After trading away three bodies to bring Brodie to LA it was time for the Lakers to build around their new big three and that’s exactly what they did. They brought in Carmelo Anthony, Malik Monk, Dwight Howard, Trevor Ariza, Kent Bazemore, Wayne Ellington, Kendrick Nunn, and re-signed THT. Immediately after all these moves were made social media was torn split into two which sparked a civil war. You’re either on the Lakers are a retirement home ore they are a super team.

The people who say the Lakers are a bunch of senior citizens were quick to head to wikipedia pages to tweet out the ages of the Lakers new found fountain of old. Melo is 37, Bron 36, Ariza 36, Dwight 35, Ellington, Bazemore 32, and Westbrook 32. So Twitter let the jokes fly about how old the members of this roster are but I think that laughter is to hide the fear of the inevitable. This Lakers team could be really good.

Those on the super team side of the fence understand that Ellington, Melo, and Nunn can knock down threes. They realize that Dwight is still a force, they know what Malik Monk and THT’s youth bring to the table. Ultimately the big three of Bron, AD, and Westbrook will be elite but this team is dangerous because this is a roster that can create offense with Bron on the bench. That gives the Lakers a chance at a rested and healthy Bron in the playoffs, the complete opposite of the Bron we just saw get eliminated in the first round for the first time in his career. So I ask you, are the Lakers a super team or not?
