Alberto Del Rio hasn’t been in the WWE for several years now, but according to reports, he’s going to be making a third stint with the company.
Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that Del Rio is telling people that once his legal issues are cleared up, he intends to return to WWE.
The 44-year-old is facing one count of aggravated kidnapping and four counts of sexual assault, however, the trial has been delayed and some expect that he is expected to be cleared of the charges.
Del Rio last wrestled for WWE in 2016 and for TNA from 2017-2018.
It’s unclear if WWE would be even interested in a reunion with Del Rio, which Meltzer pointed out.
“It would actually shock me if WWE would use him, not that anything is impossible and WWE could get away with it while any other U.S. company would be excoriated for it, but I don’t think that’s a direction that makes any sense for them at this point.”
Del Rio has apparently filed a lawsuit against Combate Sports for breach of contract. He claims he was not paid the $250,000 owed to him for the fight against UFC Hall of Famer Tito Ortiz back in December of 2019.
