After a 29 Year Drought, the Northeastern Huskies Have Now Won 3 Straight Beanpot Tournaments

What a game. What. A. GAME. For what I believe was the first time ever, the Beanpot final was televised nationally on the NHL Network and it did not disappoint. The final game was also played in front of a sold out crowd

BU opened the scoring in the first period and went up 2-0 heading into the first intermission, absolutely dominating play. Then, the Huskies woke up and roared to a 4-2 lead in the second. Heading into the third it looked like the Huskies would be back to back to back champs when….

BU buries one with a second to go. Huskies fans are all too familiar with this scene. Promising comeback only to fall short in the end. They’re basically the San Diego LA Chargers of college hockey. They just find ways to lose in crushing fashion.

To overtime we go. Then to double OT when the refs decided to regurgitate the whistles they swallowed all overtime to call this

Pretty weak call, especially in double overtime. BU took like a million penalties so they kind of set themselves up to get fucked at some point by losing the benefit of the doubt, but if I were a Terrier I’d be bouncing off the walls at that call, in that spot of the game. And, unfortunately for them, it cost them dearly

Congrats to the Northeastern men’s hockey team on their third straight Beanpot championship. Crazy to think that school went nearly 3 full decades without bringing the Beanpot home and now there are Juniors on the team that haven’t gone home without it.
