Remember when Yasiel Puig took on the entire Pittsburgh Pirates team in April? Now add reliever Amir Garrett to that list:
With two outs in the top half of the 9th inning with the Pirates up 11-3 on the Reds at Great American Ballpark, Amir Garrett was about to have the ball taken from him in relief of another pitcher to finish the frame. Already heated up after giving up a homer in the inning, he charged at the Pirates dugout, ready to take on the Buccos.
And just like that, both teams stormed the field, and another ugly brawl began. Speaking of Yasiel Puig, he had been traded to Cleveland and decided to end his career in Cincinnati with a bang, again getting in the middle of the tussle.
Puig and Garrett were among multiple players and coaches ejected from the incident. In fact, Reds manager David Bell faces a suspension after running on the field to join in on the fun after he was ejected earlier in the game.
Both Cincinnati & Pittsburgh are the bottom two teams in the NL Central, but tonight was another dramatic episode in the heated rivalry.
