The New York Giants are releasing QB Daniel Jones, as per @Schultz_Report.
Jones asked for his release. This move comes after the Giants had demoted him to the third string QB.
Jones had been practicing with team and there reports that he was playing safety for the scout team.
On Thursday, Jones spoke to reporters about his situation. He said that suffering an injury would leave the Giants on the hook for $23 million.
With the injury guarantee, it was likely that Jones would not see the field again this season.
The Giants have a 2-8 record this season. Jones has completed 63.3 percent of his passes for 2,070 yards with eight touchdowns and seven interceptions.
The Giants selected Jone with the No. 6 overall pick in the 2019 NFL draft out of Duke. He has spent his entire six-year NFL career with them.
