Saquon Barkley Stars In Eagles 34-29 Victory

The Philadelphia Eagles opened their regular season with a 34-29 win over the Green Bay Packers in Brazil. It was Head Coach Nick Sirianni’s fourth straight opening game victory.

The Eagles offense got off to a sloppy start with turnovers on their first two possessions. An interception and a fumble. The Eagles defense held strong limiting the Packers to two field goals.

The Eagles offense then got cooking and it was led by RB Saquon Barkley. The Eagles prized free agent had 3 touchdowns. Barkley had yards rushing and receiving.

Barkley’s first touchdown was a 18-yard pass from QB Jalen Hurts. He also added two rushing touchdowns. Barkley showed power, speed and big play ability.

Eagles QB Jalen Hurts had some really good moments and some bad ones in his first game in New offensive coordinator Kellen Moore’s offense.

Hurts completed 20 of 34 passes for 278 yards with 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. He connected on a beautiful 67 pass to A.J. Brown and threw an 18 yarder to Barkley.

The two interceptions that Hurts threw back picks and something that I look for him to clean up. One of them was in the end zone and took points off the board.

DeVonta Smith had a team high 7 catches for the game. He helped convert some crucial third downs. The Eagles offensive line held up well and Hurts time to throw.

The Eagles new look defense under new coordinator Vic Fangio played well. They showed toughness and aggressiveness. Their were a few mishaps that led to big plays, but in all played a solid game.

The defense was led by LB Zach Baun, who had 15 tackles and two sacks. He showed tenacity and aggressiveness.

Safety Reed Blankenship had a big interception and rookie CB Quinyon Mitchell played really well in his NFL debut.

Third-year LB Nakobe Dean played his best game as an Eagle. He 4 tackles and provided some big hits. Dean also had a chance for a pick 6 interception, but he dropped it.

It was a good opening game win for the Eagles and they look primed to a top NFC team. RB Saquon Barkley showed the rest of the NFL the impact that he has on the Eagles talented offense.
