Nakobe Dean was named the # Philadelphia Eagles starting MIKE LB before the team listed Devin White on the injury report on Tuesday, as per Jeff McLane.
Dean beat White out with a good preseason and training camp. He was by far the best linebacker during camp.
White was signed by the Eagles to a one-year deal over the offseason and is an option at MIKE linebacker spot.
White is ruled out for the will Eagles season opener Friday due to an ankle injury. He is not making the trip to Brazil with the team.
Dean was drafted by the Eagles in the third-round in the 2022 NFL draft. He was a star collegiately at the University of Georgia.
Dean played in a special-teams role as a rookie. He was named the starting MIKE LB last year, but foot issues limited him to just five games for the Eagles in 2023.
This is a big year for Dean. I look for him to nail down the starting MIKE LB spot and be a key member of the Eagles defense for year’s to come.
