Best Goals in the UEFA Champions League 23/24 season

The Champions League for the 2023/24 season is over and as expected we have witnessed an avalanche of great goals during the campaign. While there were so many amazing goals in the competition, in this article, our focus will be on just five.

Real Madrid has been crowned champions of the prestigious competition for a record 15th time. The Madrid club who have recently added French phenomenon, Kylian Mbappe to their ranks are fast becoming very dominant in the European top club competition, but they struggled in the game, and save the poor finishing from the Borussia Dortmund strikers, the game could have ended differently.

The Champions League final was a dramatic match. Real Madrid scored two late goals to secure their win. The first goal was scored by Dani Carvajal in the 74th minute. Then, nine minutes later, Vinicius Junior scored the second goal after Jude Bellingham intercepted a bad pass from Ian Maatsen. This win gave Real Madrid their 15th Champions League title, and further rubber-stamped their imperial dominance in the Champions League.

Borussia Dortmund had quite a good number of chances to score, especially in the first half. Karim Adeyemi had a great opportunity but flunked it while trying to go around Real Madrid’s goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois. Niclas Fullkrug also came close when his shot hit the post. In the second half, Fullkrug had another good chance, but his powerful header was blocked by Courtois.

Real Madrid were under a lot of pressure, but they managed to score when it was truly important. Dani Carvajal’s goal came from a great corner, which changed the game. Not too long after the opener Jude Bellingham took advantage of a mistake by Dortmund’s Ian Maatsen and assisted Vinicius Junior to score the second goal.

Fans of European super clubs, like Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Manchester City can begin to make preparations to propel their teams to victory with their support by purchasing Real Madrid tickets from an online resale store.

Back to the crux of the article, in this piece, we will be looking at the best goals scored in this year Uefa Champions League.

Alphonso Davies vs Real Madrid (2nd Leg)

The Canadian full-back was on the bench for the second leg tie between Real Madrid and Bayern Munich at the Santiago Bernabeu, and as the game was tied at nil-nil, he was thrown into the game, not long after, he got the ball by left and beat one defender and unleashed a powerful drive past Andriy Lunin.

Rasmus Hojlund brace vs Galatasaray (Old Trafford)

The Danish striker was struggling in the Premier League and at the time of this brace had yet to open his league account, but he was in good form in Europe. The first goal came via a good run from Marcus Rashford who put in a powerful cross, and it was met with a strong header by the Dane to beat the goalkeeper. The second was even more marvellous. The Dane got the ball close to the box trapped the ball masterfully, and beat one defender and let fly into the roof of the net, though Man United lost the game 2-3, the Dane will likely never forget the brace. Man UTD also got eliminated from the group stages, rendering all of Rasmus Hojlund’s efforts a waste. The 21-year-old scored 5 goals in the group stage and was the top goal scorer during that period.

Jude Bellingham vs Napoli (Diego Maradona stadium)

The English midfielder has had a stellar campaign in his debut season at Los Blancos. Real Madrid travelled to Napoli in a group stage fixture to get maximum points from the former Italian champions. Jude Bellingham got the ball from Eduardo Camavinga 40 yards from goal and got past three defenders showing great strength and skill, and he beat the goalkeeper. The goal is what you can term a solo effort, or maybe Lionel Messique.

Gabriel Jesus vs Sevilla (Ramon Sanchez stadium)

The Brazilian striker who has been affected by a series of injuries had a wonderful opportunity to get his shirt in the starting line up and he did not disappoint at least on this occasion. He first provided a wonderful assist to namesake and compatriot, Gabriel Martinelli, who rounded up the goalkeeper and scored the opener. Then he scored a blinder from a near-impossible position, he had the ball on the left and unleashed a powerful shot that beat the goalkeeper by his right. A miracle strike that would have pleased Jesus.

Leroy Sane vs Real Madrid (1st Leg)

The former Manchester City forward’s celebration after his arrow-like strike said it all. The aggression in the jump and pump was not enough to show the power of the strike. Real Madrid had taken the lead against the run of playthrough Vinicius Jr, though the Bavarians (The home side) were the dominant side. The first half ended with the away team in the lead. The second half was still quite young, when Sane got the ball on his favored left foot and sent an arrowed shot from 30 yards to beat Andriy Lunin.

Federico Valverde vs Napoli (Diego Maradona stadium)

The Uruguay international is no stranger to long-range strikes and wonderful goals, and he got another on this occasion. A corner was put in, and after a block, the ball fell nicely for Fede Valverde who unleashed a powerful strike that brushed the top bar and into the net, no chance for the goalkeeper! That was just one of the great strikes in his archives.

Conclusion

The Uefa Champions League never disappoints when it comes to quality and stupendous goals. The ones above are just some of the many excellent goals scored in the competition. But then, there are various parameters for judging the quality of a goal. To some, the skill involved is a priority, while to others the build-up play is enticing. Hopefully, this short list of goals suits your goal fantasy!!
