Phillies Have 7 Players Selected To N.L. All-Star Team

The Philadelphia Phillies have seven players selected to this year’s National League’s All-Star Game. This sets a franchise record.

The Phillies already had three players voted in as starters. National League’s leading vote-getter was first baseman Bryce Harper. He became the first ever Phillies player to acclomplish this feat.

Third baseman Alec Bohm and shortstop Trea Turner were also voted in as starters at their position.

Four Phillies pitchers were informed by Manager Rob Thomson prior to today’s game, that they were selected to the N.L. squad.

Starting pitchers Zack Wheeler and Ranger Suarez along with relief pitchers Jeff Hoffman and Matt Strahm will join the three Phillies infielders in Arlington, Texas on July 16 for this year’s MLB All-Star Game.

Wheeler will probably be replaced on the All-Star roster because he lines up to start on  the final game before the break.

It’s the first All-Star selection for Suarez, Hoffman and Strahm. It’s the second for Wheeler, who was on the 2021 National League roster and appeared in that year’s All-Star game.

Suarez may be in line to start the game. He has the best ERA (2.58) in the National League and is tied for the second most wins.

The Phillies currently have the best record in the Major League Baseball at 58-32 and currently lead the N.L. East by 8 games.

They deservedly will be well represented in this year’s mid-summer classic.
