With the Suns and Grizzlies picking up wins today, the Spurs will not be in the playoffs for the first time since the 1996-1997 season. The historic run ties the longest playoff streak in NBA history with the Philadelphia 76ers 1950-1971. Since the ’97 season, the Spurs have five championships, 170 playoff wins, and 1,228 regular-season wins. All which ranks first or tied for first in that span.

The last time the Spurs weren’t in the playoffs, Pokemon was just introduced, Bill Clinton was president, and the world’s first DVD was sold. I simply can’t wrap my head around the fact that the Spurs won’t be in the playoffs. This streak is older than me. It truly is an end to a historic era that I doubt we will ever see in basketball again.
