It is officially announced that the 2020 U.P. State Fair has been cancelled or ‘postponed to 2021’ via a public statement from the fair themselves.

The decision was made during a meeting by the U.P. State Fair Authority Tuesday afternoon.

It is believed from a story by Jack Hall of the Radio Results Network that Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s orders that bans groups and gatherings of 250 people is the main reason for the cancellation.

Another main reason for the cancellation was that Skerbeck Carnivals/Entertainment Group are not allowed to operate carnival machinery, other than zip lines.

Even with the Fair being held primarily outdoors, the board had a series of plans to ensure the fair would be run safely and surely with the practicing of social distancing in place.

This year’s fair was originally to be held on August 17-23, 2020.
