Cade Cunningham says he’s seen all the Jordan stuff but in his eyes LeBron is the goat. For starters Cade Cunningham was born in 2001. I was born in 1998 so I personally watched LeBron’s greatness. You can take time to go back and watch the film, highlights, and documentaries of previous greats but there’s nothing like witnessing greatness in real time. I watched Lebron go to 8 straight Finals. One of those Finals him and the Cleveland Cavs came back from 3-1, something that had never been done before and hasn’t been done since.

I was a witness to the game 6 against Boston’s big three that gave us an all time great meme. Most of us who are 90’s or early 00’s babies grew up watching LeBron and Kobe not Michael Jordan. The Jordan I remember was an old man who was a shell of himself on the Wizards. The older you are the more different your perspective on who the GOAT is will be.

Furthermore we all have our personal biases whether we want to admit it or not. No matter what the argument is you will ride for your favorite player no matter what. I can debate anybody until I’m red in the face about why LeBron is the greatest of all time. I don’t want to go deep into the LeBron vs Jordan comparisons because it’s such a tired debate but if I were to have it I’d start with Jordan in the 80’s. Michael Jordan suffered five first round exits including four straight, along with a second round exit, and a loss in the ECF.

LeBron James didn’t get eliminated in the first round of the playoffs until the 18th season of his career. People act like the 80’s didn’t exist, like the Pistons didn’t keep Jordan up at night. You know why Jordan was getting beat on? He needed help. Championships are a team accomplishment. He needed Pippen, Kerr, and Rodman. Sure he was a big part of those championships bit it wasn’t just him out there. So let’s put the rings on the back back burner and do head to head accomplishments.

LeBron has already surpassed Jordan in terms of longevity as he’s heading into his 19th season. He’s not playing on a bum team just withering away into irrelevance he is still very effective while on a team that could win at least two more championships. That alone is very telling, LeBron is 36 years old and still in a position to win more. Can you say that about the end of Mike’s career? Absolutely not. LeBron didn’t take time off in between to go play baseball either so there’s that.

Mike has LeBron beat by one when it comes to MVP’s but some could argue LeBron has been robbed multiple times of that award. Mike also has two more Finals MVP’s to his credit. On the flip side Lebron has more All-NBA first teams, All-NBA teams, and more All-Star game selections. Now let’s talk numbers.

LeBron has more points, rebounds, assists, and blocks than Jordan. He also has Jordan beat in every playoff stat. So when you put the numbers side by side, personal accomplishments, and leave the rings to the team’s credit who is really the GOAT? LeBron is a way better all around player than Jordan, he could play all five positions. He makes everyone around him better, I promise you Jordan could not take that 2007 Cavs team to the Finals.

Granted we’ve all watched The Last Dance but that still didn’t change my mind. I truly believe that LeBron is the greatest of all time. Ultimately the GOAT debate is really all subjective and personal preference at the end of the day. Different eras, different times, different game.
