What Took So Long Boston?
- Updated: October 5, 2012
What took Boston so long to fire Bobby Valentine? The world knew this would not work. At the start of training camp, you had a multitude of players voicing their dislike for Bobby V. He should have stayed in television analyzing the games during the post season on FOX. His arrogance rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. He wasn’t hip enough for the new age of player. His style was best suited for 80s and 90s players. Those days are behind him now.
Boston figured he was the answer because Boston had a historic collapse last year. They panicked and fired Terry Francona, who led the Red Sox to 2 world titles. I guess winning championships don’t buy you too much loyalty anymore. Boston fans voiced their displeasure with the hiring of Bobby Valentine.
We all knew this was going to end badly when the bras of the Red Sox gave him the dreaded vote of confidence and when they went on a road trip with the team. Then the blockbuster trade with the Dodgers let the world know his time as manager was coming to an end. I’m shocked that he lasted the whole season. Boston was gracious for letting him finish the season posting their worst record in 47 years. Now Boston can find a manager that best suits the team. Dumping over 200 million dollars in contracts can help them build a strong team.
