Titus Young: ‘I’m better than Megatron’
- Updated: February 5, 2013
Earlier today, wide receiver Titus Young was released by the Detroit Lions after a disappointing 2012 season that included bringing negative attention to the up and coming franchise.
Shortly after the releasing, Young had some bold remarks while talking to his former high school coach, E.C. Robinson.
According to the Detroit Free Press:
“He did tell me he thought he was just as good as Megatron. I said, ‘Titus, come on. Come on, man. Who you talking to? Come on, you’re just as good as that guy? This guy is the real deal.’ And he really believes this. And he was sincere about it. ‘Ah man, I’m better than him.’ I said, ‘no you’re not. Be real man. Come on.’ So I don’t know, I’m hoping for the best for him.” (Source: Detroit Free Press)
Young’s rookie season in Detroit showed a promising future for the franchise that was three years removed from their historic 0-16 campaign in 2008. As a matter of fact, the Lions made their first playoff appearance in 10 years during Young’s rookie season. However, his second year in Detroit didn’t end as well as they may have hoped. They failed to make the playoffs – finishing the season 4-12.
There’s no question that Young has talent, but he’s not at the level that Calvin Johnson is at. You can take the to the bank.
