Tiger is BACK! We’ve heard these words time and time again after Tiger has come back from injury, but this time, it seems like this return might be a little more permanent. Woods had fusion surgery on his back, which although is a much more serious surgery, it seems to have fixed the problem, at least it looked that way after Tiger’s strong performance at the Hero World Challenge.
Tiger looked strong out of the gates, even taking the tournament lead at one point in the second round, but fell back with a tough third round 74. He came back strong on Sunday, and ended up finishing T-9 at -8 overall. With the field as strong as it was, Tiger held up against the best, and will only continue to get better as he gets more consistent, which really just comes down to more tournament time.
What’s really impressive is how powerful his swing is, even with the added stiffness of the fusion surgery. Here is a breakdown of Tiger’s new swing, courtesy of USA Today:
As you can see, the swing is much more compact than Tiger’s early days, but he still gets pretty good shoulder rotation, allowing him to rip through the ball, much like he did here in his last round:

The power is back, the red on Sunday is back, and Tiger is back. Great words for golf fans everywhere.
