Texans beat Bengals in First Wildcard Match up
- Updated: January 5, 2013
The number three seed Houston Texans have defeated the number six Cincinnati Bengals in the first wildcard match up of the wildcard round. The defensive juggernaut of a game came down to the fourth quarter with the Texans taking the victory 19 to 13. Both teams started the game of slowly offensively but eventually picked up in the second half. The biggest surprise was how well the Texans secondary was able to contain A.J Green, not allowing him a single catch until the third quarter.
The Bengals tried their best to mount a comeback at the end but the likes of Foster and Watt was just too much for either side of the Bengals team to handle. Watt was as always a destructive force helping the defense hold Andy Dalton to only three passing yards in the first half of play. While the Bengals will now prepare for the draft, Marvin Lewis is o-4 in the playoffs as a head coach. The Texans who were slumping at the end of the season are now headed to New England and have hopefully regained some confidence.
My MVP of the game is Arian Foster who ran the ball with a dominating force and gained first downs throughout the air and ground in critical moments of the game. He also scored in a goal line situation when the Texans were starting to lose momentum. He and his team will go into New England after a hard fought defensive game but Foster should still have another good game: Brady and company vs. Schaub and company next week. Winner goes to the AFC Championship.
