Terrelle Pryor to get first NFL Start

The Oakland Raiders are well out of playoff contention and have decided to give Terrelle Pryor his first NFL start. This could be the beginning of a new era in Oakland. Terrelle Pryor has waited nearly two seasons for a genuine opportunity in the NFL. Everybody remembers him at Ohio State before a scandal cut his college career short, then the Raiders proceeded to pick him up in the supplemental draft two years ago. Pryor is an athletic, but raw talent that could take shape and be a starting quarterback in the NFL.

His attitude is what holds him back, but after Matt Leinart’s; struggles in place of Palmer last week against the Carolina Panthers, completing 16 of 32 passes for 115 yards with one interception in a 17-6 loss, a change was clearly needed. Leinart said hes not happy about the decision, but he just wants to help the team and the young man’s talents do need to be evaluated.

A Raider’s official was quoted saying “Leinart is what he is at this point of his career, and the Raiders don’t necessarily need to see more of him. Palmer might not even be back next season. Pryor is the unknown entity, and circumstances have conspired to give him what amounts to a four-quarter audition”.

This makes a meaningless football game a little more interesting. Pryor has talent, and it is time to see if that can translate to football knowledge. The Raiders may finally have a diamond in the dust. Nfl fans may want to watch this game, but it may turn out to be all hype. Time will tell with Terrelle Pryor. For right now, there just are not enough stats to show about the young man.
