Mark Sanchez Benched

Possibly the biggest controversy in the NFL this year just added a new spark to the fire today. New York Jets coach Rex Ryan benched starting quarterback Mark Sanchez in today’s game. Is it Tebow Time? Unfortunately to many fans dismay Tim Tebow is injured and inactive. So with that third string quarterback Greg McElroy received the first opportunity of his NFL career. McElroy responded, leading the Jets on a go ahead touchdown in his first possession followed by a clock-consuming drive in the fourth quarter to close out a 7-6 win at home.
Once again there will be drama in New York, because after the game Ryan refused to say if Sanchez would start next week against the dismal Jacksonville Jaguars. This brings up the question, is the Sanchez era over in New York? Will Tim Tebow get his shot next year in New York or will a no name McElroy take the job. The possibility of a Tebow trade for a draft pick for a new rookie to take the team is also not out of the question.
The win keeps the 5-7 Jets’ slim playoff hopes alive, but this game will be remembered for the possible end of the Sanchez era in New York. The “gang green drama” continues while Tebow fans continue to wonder if they will every see that fourth quarter magic again. With key injuries like stars Darelle Revis and Santonio Holmes the Jets are being written off but Rex Ryan is certainly a sneaky one. Time will tell.
