Sam Bradford the Man in Philly

There was speculation that when Chip Kelly picked up St. Louis Rams quarterback Sam Bradford it was not for leading the Philadelphia Eagles but for some sort of trade motives to get Marcus Mariota to the City of Brotherly Love. But through practice and his short but effective outings in the pre-season he has shown the leadership and abilities that the Eagles will need if they are to contend for a title this year in the NFL.  Bradford has been outstanding in his workouts and has pushed aside any thoughts that the Eagles made a bad move in getting him.

The big question is will Bradford sign an extended and bind himself with the Eagles for a year or more or wait for the end of the season to test the waters of free agency.  The former Heisman winner from Oklahoma will be playing out the final year of his first contract this year, signed as he entered the NFL in St. Louis.  Always bothered with a lack of an effective offensive line and inferior receivers at St. Louis, the injury bug has also taken a toll as he has missed one complete year and 9 games of another because of knee problems.

This looks like Bradford’s time to shine with the hope that his injury problems are behind him.  Philly has the quality of offensive players to make a deep run in the playoffs behind the leadership and arm of one of the disappointments of the past four years in the name of Sam Bradford.

I like the Eagles to take the NFC East this season.  Dallas will be the major rival of Philly, with the Giants ahead of he hapless Redskins.
