During the weekend in which saw temperatures rise up to over 35 degrees across much of the Upper Peninsula, a pickup truck (while plowing) broke through the ice and sank at Big Shag Lake in the Gwinn area, as first reported by WLUC TV6.

There are no reported injuries from this incident.

Shane Marietti, the witness to the event, captured two videos. The first video saw the driver climbing out from the driver side window as the truck, and the second captured the truck sinking into the lake.

Marietti also said that ‘it was the first time seeing this in person (his) whole life here.’

The two videos were combined into one in TV6’s post, because there were parts that contained offensive language. The YouTube video of the incident can be viewed down below.

Michigan DNR told TV6 said that the driver could face up to $25,000 in fines/penalties, pending if fluids from the truck did contaminate the lake.

No further information has been reported or updated at this time.
