Report: Mike Nolan To Interview For Eagles Coaching Vacancy

The Philadelphia Eagles are contacting the Atlanta Falcons Defensive Coordinator Mike Nolan. Mike Nolan is scheduled to interview for the head coaching job tomorrow. Since the Atlanta Falcons have a first round bye, they granted him the okay to go in for an interview.

This can be a good thing for Mike Nolan, but a bad thing for the Atlanta Falcons. The Atlanta Falcons haven’t won a playoff game under Mike Smith and Matt Ryan. Atlanta needs to be focused. In a meaningless game, John Abraham was carted off the field. The defense already lacks a pass rush rush if this injury is significant it may hurt Atlanta’s chances of making a deep playoff run.

Mike Nolan made the Atlanta Falcons defense a very opportunistic defense, they created a lot of turnovers this year. Asante Samuel, Daunte Robinson, William Moore, and Thomas Deaceux had nice seasons this year. The Falcons defense has improved greatly under Nolan. He did the same in Denver and Miami, but his coaching stint in Miami didn’t go so well.

This is an great opportunity if he gets the job. If not as the coach he would be a great Defensive Coordinator for Philadelphia.
