Report: Eagles Hire Pat Shurmur
- Updated: January 22, 2013
The Eagles made a bold statement in the hiring of Oregon head coach Chip Kelly. Everyone knew they needed a offensive coordinator with experience in the NFL. Well former Browns head coach Pat Shurmur will fill the job. This is a good add for the Eagles, while he was not the best head coach, he fills the offensive coordinator spot very well. Kelly will often lean on Shurmur his first year in the NFL.
The Eagles have a top tier draft pick this year and we should expect them to go defense as that was their biggest problem last year. The NFL combines will better determine who they will decide to draft, so Eagles fans will have to wait a little longer to find out. This however, may not be the biggest issue on the team for the upcoming year. The Eagles have two quarterbacks in Michael Vick and Nick Foles, who both could possibly be starting quarterbacks next year.
Vick has the experience but last year he should how all those hits have taken their toll. Foles lacks the experience but should good and bad things last year. This will ultimately be decided in the preseason pending any wild trades. Chip Kelly has a big decision and a even bigger task on his hands this year. Anything is possible in the wild and crazy NFC East.
