Many football fans may have expected Houston Texans edge rusher Jadaveon Clowney to be traded, but the team he was traded to, was a stunner.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport has tweeted that Clowney has been traded to the Seattle Seahawks, pending physical.
The return from Seattle was a third-round draft pick in 2020 and two players. The two players were linebacker Jacob Martin and edge rusher Barkevious Mingo.
Jacob Martin is not a household name. Just talked to a GM who gushed about his motor and how perfect he is for the #Texans system. Both Mingo and Martin will help. https://t.co/EzMiXGzSgY

Since being drafted first overall in 2014 by the Texans, Clowney went on to record 29 sacks and 205 total tackles.
The three-time Pro Bowler was also known for this hit during the 2013 Outback Bowl, when he was with University of South Carolina.

Clowney was originally placed on the non-exclusive franchise tag by Houston earlier this past offseason and he had yet to sign it.
The Texans were in a huge, dire need of offensive linemen, and they didn’t land any in the deal.
Although Mingo is a serviceable player and has plenty of upside, Martin has only tallied three sacks as a rookie last year. It’s unlikely that either player will come close to replacing the talent that Houston lost in Clowney.
