NFL Draft 2013: Which Quarterback Do The Buffalo Bills Select?
The Buffalo Bills, who recently released Ryan Fitzpatrick, are continuing to look for their future quarterback. The Bills who currently have Tarvaris Jackson and Aaron Corp at the quarterback position, want a long-term and immediate impact quarterback who can turn this team around. In the first two rounds of the upcoming draft, the Bills have the eighth and 41st overall picks. With one of these picks, the Bills will draft a quarterback, but the question is which one?
According to sources, the Bills will work out Oklahoma quarterback Landry Jones. Last week the Bills held workouts for West Virginia’s Geno Smith and Florida State’s E.J. Manuel, and could soon workout Syracuse’s Ryan Nassib.
If Buffalo gets lucky, Geno Smith would fall to them at the eighth pick, unless they trade up to grab him. However, prospects like Manuel, Jones, and Nassib will most likely be available in the second round.
The Bills have a solid offense to work around, as they have running backs C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson and receivers Stevie Johnson and Scott Chandler. If they add Geno Smith, they will get a “Michael Vick” type quarterback, but if they draft the other three, they receive an “Alex Smith” type quarterback. All quarterbacks are solid pocket passers but Geno Smith stands out due to his speed.
When looking at many mock drafts, it is rare for Geno Smith to be available for the Bills to select. Saying this comes true and all three other quarterbacks are available, I believe the Bills will go with Nassib.
Nassib amassed 3,749 yards with 26 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. This season put Nassib on the board and attracted many teams to him. His QBR was 143.3 and he had a 62.4 completion percentage.
Whoever Buffalo selects will instantly become a starter there as there is no doubt the Bills will improve their record which was 6-10 in 2012.
