New York Knicks Sign JR Smith’s Brother, Chris Smith
- Updated: August 2, 2012
The New York Knicks have signed point guard, Chris Smith, the younger brother of JR Smith, to an undisclosed deal. Smith, 24, led Louisville University to the NCAA Final Four last season while averaging 9.2 points per game and 3.6 rebounds per game. Smith played on the Knicks’ summer league team before he was signed by the team.
Smith had a decent summer league showing this year averaging 5.2 points per game and 2 rebounds per game. Smith showed that he is a versatile player. However, Smith is not guaranteed a spot on the roster. The Knicks currently have seven point guards on the roster, and there is a possibility that Smith will be sent to the Erie Bayhawks, the Knicks’ NBDL team. If Smith gets a spot on the Knicks roster, he’ll be playing alongside his brother, JR Smith, and will learn from future Hall of Famer, Jason Kidd.
