Minnesota Twins infield prospect Ryan Costello has been pronounced dead at a New Zealand hotel, just a few days removed after joining a team in the Australian Baseball League.
According to an article by the Associated Press, the 23-year-old Twins prospect died in his sleep. No cause of death was disclosed as of right now.
Costello was part of a trade that sent pitcher Zach Duke to the Seattle Mariners this past offseason.
Costello was survived by his close family, friends, and his teammates. The Twins have posted this message on Twitter regarding the announcement.
