Miami Marlins fans are upset about the trade involving Jose Reyes, Josh Johnson, Mark Buehrle, Omar Infante, Emilio Bonifacio and John Buck. Groups on social media sites have appeared in a variety of locations. Some even have over 200,000  likes on Facebook. A Miami Marlin fan said,

“Loria says he wants a good baseball experience but he trades all our franchise players away?”

Manny Diaz, former Mayor of Miami, told the Miami Harold,

“I took so much heat for the stadium being built I put city funding on the line for the new stadium. I got recalled because of that I put my job on the line for the new stadium,” Loria owner of the Marlins said. “It was best for the franchise.”

Jose Reyes said to ESPN’s Jayson Stark that he and Loria attended a dinner together only a couple of days before the trade and he was talking still about ‘get a nice house in Miami. Miami Marlins’ owner, Jeffery Loria, released a press release to the fans saying,

“Business is business, the Miami Marlins care deeply about the fans.”

Miami fans have criticized the ownership for their involvement in the Miami community hiring manager Ozzie Guillen who made references to Fidel Castro upsetting the Cuban community of Miami. Loria explained to ESPN’s Buster Olney,

“He is deeply upset about the plan in place for the fans.”

The Miami Marlins spent $550 million on the new stadium. Reyes said that he feels, “sorry” for outfielder, Giancarlo Stanton and the other Marlins players who remain on a team.
