In an unexpected and seemingly surprising move, Miami Hurricanes head football coach Mark Richt informed the school Sunday that he would be retiring. The U is recently coming off a 35-3 trouncing in the Pinstripe Bowl by the University of Wisconsin. The Hurricanes finished the 2018 season at 7-5. After taking over head coaching duties at his alma mater, Richt went 26-13. Before leading The U for the past three seasons, Richt spent 15 years at the University of Georgia. There, he led the Bulldogs to a 145-51 record going 9-5 in bowl games. Despite having coached a bevy of NFL talent over the course of his storied career, Richt never won a national championship. Who Miami will pursue to fill the now vacant head coaching position remains to be seen.
