Manny Machado Tells Dodgers Fan He’ll Bet His $300 Million Contract That Padres Win World Series Before His Former Team Does

San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado made a bold prediction in last Thursday night’s game, which may affect his team’s future playoff hopes.

Boldly enough that he would bet his entire $300 million contract to do so.

While in the on-deck circle in a game against the Los Angeles Dodgers, his former team, he told a heckling fan that he’d bet his contract that his team would win the World Series before the Dodgers do.

Even though some fans may think he may have said it in a joking or trolling sense, Machado might need to do some help for his team to back up the bet.

The Padres currently sit in fourth place in the NL West Division at a 44-45 record. The leader of that division is the Dodgers at a 60-31 record.

However over the weekend, the Padres defeated the Dodgers in back-to-back games.  They’ll wrap their four-game series today in Los Angeles.

This year, Los Angeles became the fourth team in their franchise history to reach 60 wins before the All-Star Break, and only the 15th team in league history to do so.

The Dodgers also lead the division by 14 and a half games over the Arizona Diamondbacks and Colorado Rockies. They also are 15 games ahead of the Padres.
