A man may have found out the hard way why you shouldn’t get in the face of two hockey players.

The altercation took place in the morning hours at a Manhattan apartment where the 28-year-old complainant alleges that AJ Greer and Sonny Milano, of the Colorado Avalanche and Columbus Blue Jackets, punched and kicked him.

It’s unclear what started the fight, but some media outlets are reporting it began over a bill from exclusive New York City nightclub 1 OAK just hours earlier.

TMZ reported that Greer told police the complainant got in their face.

The man allegedly suffered injuries to his bicep, neck, jaw and ribs, but refused medical treatment after calling the police.

Police arrested Greer and Milano, and they were given a desk appearance ticket, ordering them to appear in court at a later date.

The Columbus Blue Jackets said in a statement that they are aware of the reports involving Milano and are reviewing the situation.

Avalanche Senior Vice President of Communications Jean Martineau said the team was aware of the allegations surrounding Greer and would wait until the end of the investigation to comment.
