The Los Angeles Lakers have had a rocky season, leading to the team not being able to nab a spot in the playoffs. With LeBron James on board, it was pretty much assumed that it would be a locked deal. But an interesting story points out why LeBron wasn’t at his full potential- because he rushed back from an injury.

Dr. Karen Joubert, who serves as LeBron’s physical therapist, indicated that the star player was supposed to be out for much longer, based on this post from her Instagram page(which is set to private).

“As a PT for 27 years I have had the good fortune to work with some of the top athletes in the world,” she started. “Then came Lebron.

“I want you all to know how bad his injury was and is, the pain he endured. Along with his amazing trainer, Mike Mancias, he was on the court in 6 weeks, it should have been 6 months.

“Unselfishly, he endured pain, pain, pain,” she continued. “He did not want to let the Lakers down, the fans down. But I know what he went through! I learned about determination, the will to win, how to get the job done. He is a force to be reckoned with.”

That said, some fans have shown bitterness on the social media front over LeBron’s decision, believing that the injury and his lack of being 100 percent did more harm to the Lakers than expected. One fan under the name “Lakers fans are ass” (okay, not so much of a fan) noted, “Lakers fans are trash. He should have sat out the whole season. I wonder how many of you idiots are going to call this woman a liar.”

Some have noticed some change in his style of play, probably due to said injury. But along with the present, there is some concern as to how it will affect him in the long-term. Obviously he’ll have some time to rest before the season kicks back up again in October, but will that be enough to get back to full speed? Guess we’ll find out next year.
